Is Trade Nation Real or Fake for India?

Trade Nation India review: SCB Bahamas license SIA-F216, no SEBI registration, fixed spreads from 0.6 pips. What the data shows.

CFDs carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage.

Is Trade Nation Real or Fake for India?

Trade Nation has been operating under its current name since 2019, but its corporate history goes back to 2014, when it launched as Core Spreads in the UK. The brokerage holds an active license from the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SCB), number SIA-F216. That is a verifiable fact, not marketing.

The question of whether Trade Nation is "real or fake" misses the point. The right question is narrower: what exactly are you getting when you open an account from India, and how does that compare to what the same brand offers elsewhere? The data answers this clearly.

The License Reality

Indian retail clients are onboarded under Trade Nation Ltd, the entity regulated by the SCB in the Bahamas. That entity holds licence No. SIA-F216. There is no SEBI registration in India, so the broker is not authorised by the local securities regulator.

Retail offshore-forex margin trading is restricted for Indian residents under FEMA and the RBI's Alert List regime. This restriction applies to the entire category of offshore forex and CFD brokers serving India.

The SCB license provides a baseline regulatory framework, but it does not extend to Indian jurisdiction. You are trading under Bahamian oversight, not Indian oversight.

What the Account Data Shows

The account structure at Trade Nation comprises two live tiers and a demo account. The lower-leverage tier caps at 1:30, the higher-leverage tier reaches 1:200, and the minimum deposit is USD 0.

The 1:200 leverage is subject to an internal suitability check. This leverage is not sanctioned by any Indian regulator.

There is no INR account option. Base currencies are GBP, EUR, USD, AUD and ZAR, so any deposit in INR converts to one of those currencies first.

Spreads and Real Costs

Trade Nation uses a fixed-spread model on its proprietary TN Trader platform, with zero commission. The cost is built entirely into the spread. On MT4, spreads are floating.

InstrumentTN Trader Spread (core hours)Commission
SPX500from ~0.6 pipsZero
UK 100~1 ptZero
Gold~3 ptsZero

Trade Nation's SPX500 spread sits near the lower end of the market. A fixed spread means the cost does not widen during news events or volatile sessions.

Platform and Instrument Limits

Trade Nation offers two platforms: the proprietary TN Trader and MetaTrader 4. There is no MT5 or cTrader.

PlatformSpread TypeBest For
TN Trader (web/mobile)FixedCost predictability, simplicity
MetaTrader 4FloatingCustom indicators, EAs, habit

Instrument coverage is 1,000+ markets: roughly 40 forex pairs, about 1,100 share CFDs, plus indices, commodities and crypto CFDs.

Comparing Against Tighter Regulation

If regulatory strength is your priority, compare Trade Nation's SCB license against brokers regulated by the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, or ASIC in Australia. Those regulators impose stricter capital requirements, more frequent audits and mandatory investor-compensation schemes.

The trade-off is leverage. Under ESMA rules, FCA and CySEC-regulated entities cap retail leverage at 1:30. ASIC applies similar limits. Trade Nation's higher-tier 1:200 leverage is not available under those jurisdictions.

For a trader who values execution cost and leverage over regulator prestige, an offshore entity is a structural advantage. For a trader who values deposit protection and independent recourse, a stronger-regulated entity is safer, even at lower leverage.

Both positions are rational. The data reveals the trade-off without declaring a winner.

Funding Mechanics for India

Deposits from India work through Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer. Local INR UPI rails were not verified at the time of this review. The minimum deposit is USD 0, but the minimum withdrawal is USD 50. Since there is no INR account, your funds convert to USD during the deposit process.

Funding MethodDeposit SpeedNotes
Visa/MastercardInstant to minutesConverted to USD
Bank transfer1–3 business daysConverted to USD
UPINot verifiedDo not assume availability

The USD conversion cost is embedded in the exchange rate. The USD 50 minimum withdrawal is low by industry standards, but a small balance near that threshold becomes effectively locked.

The Broader India Context

India regulates currency derivatives through SEBI-recognised exchanges (NSE, BSE, MSE), where you can trade USD/INR, EUR/INR, GBP/INR and JPY/INR on margin of roughly 3–5 percent. This equates to 20–30x leverage on notional value.

Offshore forex and CFD trading with unlicensed entities is not permitted under RBI/FEMA rules. Capital sent abroad for margin trading is not an allowed purpose under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS).

This regulatory wall applies to every offshore forex or CFD broker operating without a local license. The RBI publishes an Alert List of unauthorised platforms; as of 19 November 2025, it contained 95 entities. Trade Nation's inclusion on that list was not verified at review.

If you choose to trade with an offshore broker, you assume the full risk of that choice without local regulatory recourse.

Forex conversion cost on deposits

Account opening from India involves practical limits worth knowing before you commit funds.

The base currency issue matters. Since there is no INR account, every deposit and withdrawal carries a forex conversion step. The spread is transparent, but the conversion cost is not itemised.

The platform limitation also deserves attention. If you need MT5's built-in strategy tester or cTrader's advanced order types, Trade Nation will not serve you.

Trade Nation runs no verified India-specific promotion, and the group generally does not offer deposit bonuses.

Red Flags

Offshore forex trading by Indian residents is legally restricted under FEMA and the RBI Alert List regime. Verify the current RBI Alert List at https://www.rbi.org.in before funding any offshore broker.

Who This Fits

Recommended for:a trader who values predictable, fixed execution costs and is comfortable with offshore regulation. The fixed-spread model protects you from slippage during news events, and the zero-commission structure makes cost calculation simple.

Not recommended for:a trader who wants strong regulatory authority, local payment rails or a wider platform ecosystem. If you want deposit protection and legal recourse that comes with an FCA or CySEC license, if you want UPI deposits or a purely INR account, or if MT5 or cTrader are deal-breakers, Trade Nation is not the right fit.

The Honest Verdict

Trade Nation is real. The company existed before the rebrand, holds an active SCB license, and offers a measurable cost advantage in spread stability.

You are trading through an offshore entity that is not authorised locally, and that brings consequences. Verify the broker against the current RBI Alert List before you fund, and understand that FEMA restricts your participation in this product category.

The decision is a clean trade-off. Fixed predictable costs and higher leverage come with a weaker regulatory net. Tighter oversight comes at half the leverage. Pick the trade-off that matches your strategy.

Questions

What exactly does the SCB Bahamas license cover?

Trade Nation Ltd holds SCB Bahamas licence No. SIA-F216, which governs its operations from the Bahamas. This license does not extend to India, and the broker has no SEBI registration, so Indian clients do not have local regulatory recourse.

How does the 1:200 leverage compare to what Indian exchanges offer?

SEBI-recognised exchanges apply margin requirements of roughly 3–5 percent, which equates to 20–30x leverage on notional value. Trade Nation's higher-tier 1:200 leverage is several times that, but it is not sanctioned by any Indian regulator.

Do I pay extra fees for the USD conversion on deposits?

The minimum deposit is USD 0 and the minimum withdrawal is USD 50. Since there is no INR account, your funds convert to USD, and the conversion cost sits inside the exchange rate. The conversion markup is not itemised separately.

Can I get a swap-free account with Trade Nation from India?

Yes. Swap-free or Islamic accounts are offered under the SCB and Seychelles entities in eligible countries. The offshore channel remains the legally restricted route for Indian residents under FEMA, so the swap-free option does not change the regulatory status.
